Purpose: Our Generation (originally Our Generation Against Nuclear War) was an independent radical journal published in Montreal, Canada. It was founded in 1961 as a journal of the problems of achieving world peace. By the late 1960s the journal was turning towards anarchist solutions, and by the early 1970s it had clearly become a journal of anarchism and libertarian socialism. Featured authors included Herbert Marcuse, Dimitri Roussopoulos, James Harding, Peggy Duff, Adele Lauzon, and Martin Oppenheimer.
The journal was published every September, November, February and June. Our Generation ceased publication in 1994, after producing 24 volumes. The joural was associated with a book publishing project begun in 1970 known as Black Rose Books. They pubished books in the social sciences and humanities, with particular a particular emphasis on politics, cultural studies, history, philosophy, sociology and environmental and urban issues. Black Rose Books has made PDFs of Our Generation available through their website (blackrosebooks.net). Back copies of Our Generation may also be purchased from Black Rose Books.
