Creating a space for Community Dialogue
November 28, 2013
Join other activists, advocates, and organizers Weaving connections between: - community groups - city-wide organizations - social justice networks - progressive movements Sharing stories from our struggles Finding common ground on issues, goals, values Developing the groundwork for a solidarity strategy and creating the conditions for an active solidarity alliance We are an inclusive and open group of people. TCDI members welcome creative and passionate people actively engaged in building collaborative action for social improvement at the neighbourhood, city-wide, regional, and national levels. Our goal is to create a centre for learning and sharing about organizing and developing community, while building networks of active solidarity. TCDI began in 2007 among community development activists, popular educators, academics, and labour activists. We have reached out to advocates on issues such as (but not limited to) immigrants and refugees and Aboriginal Rights. We also build relationships with post-secondary programs of social/community/political work, as well as human service agencies, activists in communities, and progressive movements for social change. We would like our work to continue to evolve. We do see that work as having two parallel paths conferences that engage people across the city and issues and responsive educational series in local communities. We feel both are essential to learning and organizing.
