As bringing in products from far away becomes more expensive, local job opportunities will expand. With more people working to provide for local needs, citizens will have more reason to interact with each other, leading to greater engagement in local affairs and the consequent uplift in spirits that comes with belonging. Mike Nickerson, author of "Life, Money and Illusion; Living on Earth as if we want to stay" will present the context and facilitate a discussion about how global changes increase local opportunities for a more satisfying and secure world.
