Newcomer Speaker's Bureau at Toronto City Hall!
April 27, 2011
The Mennonite New Life and our partners from Voices from the Street would like to invite you to attend the Graduation Ceremony of the Newcomer Speakers Bureau. This ceremony will take place in the Council Chambers at Toronto City Hall on Wednesday, April 27th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We expect to attract an audience of 150-200 people, drawn from newcomer communities, the community service sector, organized labour, business, and government. Attending this event will give you an opportunity to hear first hand the voices, experiences and proposals of Toronto immigrants who are passionate about contributing to a strong and prosperous future for this City. As you well know, immigration is a critical issue for Toronto. Half of Toronto's population are immigrants. Almost one in five Toronto residents arrived in Canada between 1996 and 2006. Effectively mobilizing the knowledge, skills and voices of immigrants and refugees is key to the future of our city. We hope that you will be able to join us on April 27. Please confirm your attendance with Project Coordinator Adriana Salazar at 416-699-4527 X 229 or asalazar@mnlct.org
