ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP (21 HOURS )

Students seeking to work with government, business, non-profit, education, environmental and other fields will face social, economic, and environmental questions in their roles. This course will provide students with an understanding of basic principles of environmental stewardship, stewardship ethic and delve into the topics of land, water, climate change and forestry. The concept of stewardship will be examined from various contexts: individually, regionally and internationally. The course will present the concept of corporate social responsibility with an emphasis on how companies are addressing environmental sustainability. At the end of the course, students will have gained an appreciation for what environmental stewardship is, why it is important and how stewardship principles may be integrated into their organizations. The major form of course delivery will be through lectures, handout materials, and assignments. Case studies and recent developments will be used to give practical working examples of the course material. Students will prepare a book report, write a reflective paper and complete a take-home assignment.
