April 01, 2011 to April 02, 2011
Nowrouz (نوروز meaning 'New Day') is an ancient Iranian festival and the start day of Iranian New Year. Nowrouz marks the first day of spring and rebirth of nature.
Sarv Ensemble celebrates the occasion with an exciting mix of original compositions, pieces from old masters, and music from different regions of Iran including Khorasan, Gilan, and Kurdistan.
Sarv Ensemble wishes this Nowrouz will be a new day for peace and prosperity around the world.
Sarv Ensemble is a traditional Persian music ensemble formed in 2010. Drawing inspiration from diverse classical and folk traditions across Iran, it performs and shares this music through concerts, as well as workshops, outreach and community events. Sarv Ensemble presents both in traditional contexts as well as in collaboration with artists from different traditions and disciplines. In its first year of activity, it has performed with vocalist Roohangiz, and storyteller Ariel Balevi, and is planning for a North American tour with vocalist Naser Masoudi in Fall 2011.
