Rethinking Extractive Energy: Regulation, Dispossession and Emerging Claims

The Centre for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean and the Extractive Industries Research Group at York University are holding a conference on Rethinking Extractive Energy: Regulation, Dispossession and Emerging Claims to respond to growing debate and interest on the impact of mining and petroleum industries in Canada and elsewhere in the world. The conference will open with a screening of the documentary feature film Under Rich Earth (Bajo Suelos Ricos), by Malcolm Rogge, about the conflict between a Canadian mining company and a rural community in Ecuador.
