Montreal Documentary Festival/ Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire (RIDM)

This festival was founded in 1998 by documentary film makers who wanted to give documentary films a showcase that would encourage the emergence of new ways of looking at the world.
Some 100 films are offered from the four corners of the earth; the themes are social, political and environmental.
Along with the films, there are numerous work shops where film content and techniques can be discussed and artistic merit can be evaluated.
