Green Drinks Durham: Waste Minimization to Protect Lake Ontario
January 31, 2019
Join Green Drinks Durham on Thursday January 31st as we welcome Rochelle Byrne from A Greener Future to talk about the work they are doing with local communities to promote environmental preservation through organized litter cleanups, educational programs, and events.
Over the past four years, with the help of thousands of volunteers, over 1 million pieces of litter have been picked up, entered into A Greener Future's data system, and disposed of properly. This includes returning beer and liquor containers to The Beer Store, composting paper, and recycling everything from cans to textiles and cigarette butts. This helps ensure that a minimal amount of waste is going to the landfill. Join Rochelle on January 31st at Green Drinks Durham as she discusses which items are having the biggest negative impact on the health of Lake Ontario and what we can all do to help protect the Lake from pollution.
