How to Safely Host Demos

January 27, 2019

How do you handle abusive, hostile and aggressive opponents during a direct action? What can you legally do to push back while protecting yourself and those with you? How can you plan ahead to ensure peoples safety? As we see increasing numbers of far right, xenophobic, and anti-choice groups coming into public spaces like houses of worship, campuses, and schools its vital that we learn how best to redress those who would try to harass marginalized folks in our communities.

This workshop is limited to 25 and will be an intensive 3 hour long workshop covering some of the more likely scenarios student activists might come up against. Due to the nature of the content covered, this workshop will be open only to those who are active members of OPIRG Toronto, OPIRG York, No One Is Illegal, Greenpeace, or George Brown Community Action Centre

Come learn about the do's and don'ts of hosting direct actions and campaigns in the face of aggressive adversaries.
