Supporting Transgender People in the Workplace

Please join the Occupational Health Centre for a free public presentation – Supporting Transgender People in the Workplace – presented by Frances Ennis.
Increasingly, transgender individuals are choosing to disclose their gender identity to their employer and colleagues, sometimes undergoing a process of transition while in the workplace. In other cases transgender individuals in the workplace never disclose, with coworkers and employers, none the wiser. Although gender identity is a protected human right, transgender individuals face unique challenges in the workplace, including discrimination, harassment, and bullying.
In this education session, Frances Ennis will discuss some of the issues faced by transgender individuals in the workplace and provide information on best practices for employers, unions, and colleagues to support gender diverse workers. Attendees will learn basic concepts and terminology related to gender diversity and sexuality. Expect to leave with increased knowledge to create and improve respectful, diverse workplaces.
