The Intersection of Art and Social Justice
December 09, 2017
VIBE Arts presents an evening of inspiring stories from the Kwenton Bayan and Beehive Design Collectives, in a workshop exploring the intersection of art and social justice. We are excited for you to join us in these enlightening and courageous conversations.
Kwenton Bayan's Labour of Love is a community based comic book project that was created in collaboration with caregivers, advocates and community allies, about the real life stories of Filipino migrant caregivers who work under Canada's Caregiver Program.
The Beehive Deisgn Collective works to "cross-pollinate the grassroots" by creating collaborative, anti-copyright images that can be used as educational and organizing tools. They use drawings as a means of visual story telling to weave together lived experiences and complex global issues. Current works explore mountaintop removal coal mining and corporate globalization in the America's.
