Invisible No More: End Violence Against Women Event
December 06, 2017
In recognition of the National Day of Rememberance and Action on Violence Against Women, Yellow Brick House with Support of the City of Markham's Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Regional Councillor Nirmala Armstrong are inviting you to an event to reflect on violence against women. The event will bring together the community in Markham to remember and honour the 14 women who lost their lives and the 10 women who were injured as a result of gender-based violence on December 6, 1989 at L'Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. This event is an opportunity for attendees to increase awareness and knowledge in regards to the violence presently suffered by many women in York Region.
As an example of its commitment to end violence against women, the City of Markham will be proclaiming December 6 as a National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and will be hosting a flag raising ceremony.
