Votes For [some] Women: 100th Anniversary of B.C.’s Women’s Suffrage Historical Walking Tour
April 02, 2017
On April 5, 1917 eligible white women got the right to vote in the provincial B.C. election, yet it took 3 decades later for other women (and men) to be granted that same right. This tour also covers past women’s rallies, protests and demonstrations that took place around the Stanley Park Dining Pavilion. Meet at the viewing plaza overlooking Lost Lagoon, foot of Alberni St. Tours depart from various locations & have various starting times. All tickets are $10 cash (exact change is helpful). Many tours have a sliding scale, so check individual announcements. Allow extra time for tour registration, traffic, parking and the bus. Tours run rain or shine. Please wear appropriate clothing & footwear as we may be walking on grass, trails and some uneven ground at times. All tours feature rare historical photographs. Tours are presented by historical interpreter Jolene Castillou Cumming.
Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm
