Norfolk Forest Important Bird and Biodiversity Area BioBlitz
June 17, 2017 to June 18, 2017
A bioblitz brings together expert naturalists and taxonomic scientists to inventory as many species as possible in a particular area in a set amount of time, typically over 24 hours. The species records are compiled into a single data set of the biodiversity in that location at that point in time. Through this project celebrating Canada's 150th anniversary new scientific data will be generated and new species will be documented which will help to inform choices on such issues such as climate change and loss of biodiversity. These discoveries will be showcased to the Canadian public, wildlife managers, conservation organizations, educational institutions and government agencies to shape conservation decisions and ensure these wild species and spaces remain for generations to come.
