Connexions Directory of Groups & Websites 2016
Organization inactive Toronto,
Contact: Stephen Dankowich
Purpose: ACT is a non-aligned group working for peace, human rights and ecology at a grassroots level.
Activities/Services: Community Action, Demonstations, Library, Lobby, Speakers, Workshops
Budget: Less than $25,000
Founded: 1982
Geographic Scope: National
Highlights: We were at the latest in a long series of vigils, rallies and sit-ins in support of the Innu people's struggle against low-level flight testing -- a cold group outside the Dutch Consulate in Toronto. A supporter had just presented 20,000 signatures on a petition against a NATO base on Innu land. Then a TV crew arrived and told us the base was cancelled by NATO. Half a victory!
