Finding Safety Through Solidarity: A Holocaust Survivor Shares

January 31, 2019

Join IfNotNow Toronto in marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day by listening to Suzanne Weiss, a Jewish Holocaust survivor who dedicated her life to the spirit of solidarity that saved her as a child.

Only a young child when the Nazi occupation of France began, Suzanne was hidden in the countryside by a community that risked everything to save her and many others. Come hear her remarkable story of survival, and her return 75 years later -- amidst the resurgence of far-right nationalism -- to the French town that saved her life.

A longtime socialist, Suzanne has been active in many social movements -- from labour justice to womens liberation, opposition to the Vietnam War, environmental justice movement and the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

We will hear Suzanne share her story of survival and solidarity, followed by a discussion facilitated by a member of IfNotNow Toronto.

IfNotNow is a movement of North American Jews committed to ending our Jewish community's support for the occupation, and building a future of freedom and dignity for all. This event is open to all those interested in coming together and learning in this moment.

Children are welcome.
