Who Pays? Who Profits? Food Production in Canada
Publisher: IDERA Films, Vancouver, CanadaYear Published: 1975 Resource Type: Slide Show Cx Number: CX99 Who is responsible for the high price of food in Canada? Abstract: Who is responsible for the high price of food in Canada? To answer this question, the montage first looks at the history of farming in Canada. The communal co-operation of pioneer days gives way to rising competition among farmers. At the same time farmers' interests begin to conflict first with the interests of big railroad and elevator owners, then government protected manufacturing industries. The illusive promise of post war technology for increased yields and higher incomes fails to solve many of these basic conflicts. Subject Headings |
