An account of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.

Abstract:
The author draws on radio transcripts and eyewitness accounts to narrate the tragic story of thirteen days in October 1956 when the Hungarian people rose up against Soviet occupation of their country. The book is full of photographs, taken by "the great photo-journalists who were in Budapest that October," which add immensely to the narrative. There is an introduction by George Mikes who covered the Hungarian Revolution for BBC television. Overall, the book is a very thorough and interesting look into an event which "a prosperous and not altogether oppressed Hungary wishes to forget."
