Pipeline Follies

Letter to the Editor, November 19, 2011

Thomas Walkom’s article about the tar sands and Keystone XL Pipeline mentions the subdued response of Canadians. Certainly the media coverage may be subdued, but as someone who participated in the Ottawa Action against the Tar Sands in September, where 200 people risked arrest including some very elderly passionate people, there are many of us Canadians who are totally outraged by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s policies on the environment – and particularly the tar sands devastation of the indigenous peoples.
