Springboard

Springboard was a volunteer organization run out of the Christian Resource Centre at 297 Carlton Street during the 1970s. The purpose of the program was to facilitate regular contact between incarcerated men and their families during their time in prison. For single men Springboard also connected volunteers with inmates to create sustained contact and support when the prisoner completed their sentence. The founders hoped that through this work they might prevent the types of conditions that might inspire formerly incarcerated people to commit new crimes once released.
