Polluter wins tax break
Year Published: 1992Resource Type: Article Cx Number: CX4461 Abstract: Domtar Corporation has requested and received a reduction in the taxes it has to pay in Alberta on land that it owns. Domtar contaminated the land in question so severely as to make it completely unusable. Domtar argued that the land was now impossible to ever sell and therefore worth less and that therefore it should have to pay less tax. The Alberta government agreed to lower Domtar's taxes.
