Pamphlet discusses wage and price Controls and how they affect Canadians.
Abstract:
This pamphlet, the first by the Popular Economics Group, is a readable introduction to the Wage and Price Controls policy and the kinds of questions such a policy raises for many Canadians. Why do prices continue to rise? How are our economic rights being effected? What kind of 'new society' and 'new values' does Prime Minister Trudeau have in mind for us? The pamphlet tackles these questions and takes a hard look at the politics of the business cycle, the effectiveness of the different types of controls, government cutbacks, and the kinds of considerations behind the decision to create the Anti-Inflation Board. The pamphlet is designed for those interested in social issues and poverty in Canada. It is a good educational tool for groups. Available from the Development Education Centre, 121 Avenue Road, Toronto.
