The SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR THE UNEMPLOYED stresses that unemployment in Canada is clearly a structural problem, brought about by government policies and international factors. While not the individual's fault, unemployment, nevertheless can cause great stress in individual lives.

The intent of the GUIDE is "to provide quick and useful informatiion to people currently unemployed." The six sections covering housing, financial and legal affairs, training, education and employment options, discount shopping, and tips for coping with unemploymen. The information is geared to the Ottawa-Carleton area, but the format could be useful to those preparing guides in other locations.
