Year Published: 1986Resource Type: Pamphlet Cx Number: CX3146 Abstract: NEIGHBORHOOD ACTION is a Sudbury group which assists the development of neighborhood self-help networks by means of communit conference, workshops, and popular education. "Recipes for Change: is a handbook of exercises, games and techniques to help reach this goal. The first half of the book contains activities such as "Getting to Know you" (icebreakers) "warm-ups" to prepare for more serious aspects of an event, "Brain De-Fuzzers", co-operative games and trust exercises. Part 2 describes popular education techniques including socia-drama (examining lives by playing out our personal dramas and sharing them with others), "Theatre of the Oppressed" to examine our own and others oppression, and Theatre Journal, a method of reading between the lines in newspapers. The book is spiral-bound to lay flat, and pages are colour-coded to help find sections quickly. |
