Abstract:
"Bill Bennett Says There are Good Times Ahead," a leaflet from B.C.'s HEADLINES THEATRE syas. But the Company is more concerned with the massive Socred cuts of education, health care, forestry, human rights, and social services in general. It's "suspicious" of Socred schemes such as Expo 86, free trade zones and cheap pools of labour.

So suspicious, in fact, that it's creating a new play "The Enemy Within", for which it was seeking funding in the spring of 1985. (Send tax-deductible donations to B.C. Conference/Soci-Economic 200-1955 West Fourth Ave., Vancouver, V6J 1M7). Focusing on the free trade plans, the play will tour B.C's Lower Mainland which is a prime location for the cheap labour proposal.

"The Enemy Within" follows a review called "Under the Gun", which toured Canada with a message of disarmament that made a link between military production and Pacific Rim development.

This abstract was published in the Connexions Digest in 1986.
