Abstract:
The WOMEN'S ART RESOURCE CENTRE was set up to "document women's cultural work and to actively generate feminist aesthetic theory in Canada." Its objectives are to:
- develop history by collecting information about women artists and women's cultural activites and to make
these resources available to the public.
- create a support structure for women's artists by arranging study groups, lectures, artists' visits and a
skills exchange;
- facilitate debate and discussion about feminist art;
- encourage contact between women's art groups and other community organizaitons;
- WARC is establishing a registry of slides and other documentation of women's artists' work, and requests
donations of slides, photogarphs, cassettes, etc. The centre also sponsors public talk by artists
reading groups, a networking group, and a skill exhange to assist women in finding freelance art-related
employemnt
WARC is interested in sponsoring a second "Feminist and Art" symposium for spring , 1986. Call for details.
