Abstract: 
COMMUNITAS INCORPORATED is a non-profit corporation whose goal is to provide individuals and community groups with the information, resources, and tools they require to develop an environment over which they have control. To achieve its goal, COMMUNITAS works in four areas: a shelter resource programme, research and publicaitons, information centre programme, and printing services.

In its shelter resource programme COMMUNITAS assists those individuals and groups who wish to develop their own housing project. The assistance begins at the initial development and core group formation stage and includes help with feasiblity studies and deveopment right through to the construction and post-construction stages of a project.

In its research and publications work, COMMUNITAS undertakes specific research projects, usually in collaboration with other organizations. Its most recent research being done for the Co-operatives Housing Foundation of Canada, focuses on the posibility of developing land trusts in this country. COMMUNITAS publishes several resources of use to those organizing a housing co-op, including a series of pamphlets called, "Hot To.....Paperwork for Co-op Housing."
