Abstract: Connexions has published numerous abstracts on Network. - - - This abstract was published in Connexions Digest in 1981 and 1982: Network is a service developed by a group of CUT Social Action Training graduates. Its purpose is to facilitate more co-operation between groups working on the justice and social change issues in the Calgary area. Network is committed to assisting groups and individuals to work towards a sane, humane and sustainable society. This group seeks to keep its members and the general public informed of events in Calgary through a calendar of events produced once a month; this calendar also includes contact names and phone numbers for the events. Network is compiling and constantly up-dating an Information Service, with addresses of M.P.'s, MLA's and council members. The organization also has current information available about making contact with the local press, government and non-governmental agencies. A Speakers' Bureau, listing names and numbers plus topics is available through Arusha Cross-Cultural Society. Network is designed to work on a consensus basis between the Arusha Centre, the Network Collective and Network members. - - - This abstract was published in Connexions Digest in 1983: Since its beginning in June 1983, NETWORK has expanded from a Calendar of Information, to a newsletter, to a monthly newsmagazine. Membership includes 54 groups, representing 80 per cent of the alternative movement in Calgary. Each edition includes a calendar of events, group descriptions, reviews, resource lists, and articles. - - - This organization no longer exists. |
