Abstract: -- Excerpt: The establishment French media blamed the disturbances on a minority of right-wing and left-wing "extremists" and destructive "casseurs" (vandals and rioters). In reality, the great majority of protestors were ordinary and politico-economically exasperated working-poor and middle class citizens not affiliated with either the far right or the left.
