Abstract: -- Excerpt: Over the past sixteen years this format of "guilt through language" has troublingly been co-opted far outside the workings of the White House and the Pentagon. Recent events evidence how this strategy has been employed by those in academia -- from professors to students -- who are taking language and casting it as violence, no matter the intent, no matter that the language being critiqued is entirely non-violent. And this deployment of the "war on ideas" is being carried out by individuals who generally consider themselves "progressive." Subject Headings |
