Out of Control
Publisher: Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Toronto, CanadaYear Published: 1976 Resource Type: Film/Video Cx Number: CX206 A film that exposes the Trudeau Anti-Inflation Bill as an attack on Canadian workers. Abstract: "Out of Control" was the first by a Canadian union that exposed the Trudeau Anti-Inflation Bill as an attack on Canadian workers. The film concentrates on public service workers, who are the first and often the hardest hit section of the workforce, in contrast to monopoly corporations who remain unaffected by the legislation. the film explodes the Pepin-Plumtree myth that the AIB is an impartial government agency by proving its pro-business attitudes. Trudeau himself exploded one of his own myths of his political integrity, as an old speech made in Quebec comes back to haunt him with echoes of his attacks on U.S. and British wage control progammes. "Out of Controls" concludes with a call to working to organize and defeat the current attacks on their rights to free collective bargaining. |
