Abstract:
The Canadian Council of Churches, through its Commission on Canadian Affairs, has set up a Task Force on Racism to implement a programme to combat racism. A member of the Task Force was asked to prepare a resource kit in preparation for a Consultation on Racism held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, April 10-13, 1980. The result is a kit which aims at consciousness-raising, education and animation on racism in the Canadian context. The kit is open-ended in that more materials will be added to it as they become available.

The contents of the kit reflect a "dual awarness:"
1. that each of us is a racist to a degree;
2. that as Christians we are committed to struggle against our own racist tendencies and against those in the
world

The contents include statements from Canadian churches; papers delivered at the Consultation in Winnipeg; a booklet on refugees by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops; a booklet on Racism by the Canadian Labour Congress; and an extensive annotated bibliography of other resources on Racism. Also included is a Tolerance Quotient questionaire, aimed at assessing individual and group levels of tolerance. This questionaire is called "a discussion stimulus for small or large groups."
