This issue highlights the GATT convention in Geneva (January 15, 1978): Western nations and members of the General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs (GATT) meet in Geneva to begin round of talks to prevent collapse of world trade; inflation and unemployment on the rise; fighting layoffs; industrial pollution hazards in Canada; Canada and NATO; Defence Minister Barney Danson hopes to spend $20 billion over next 10 years on fleet of destroyers.
