Report on an organizing effort by two social workers with single homeless men in Montreal.

Abstract:  This article is the documentation of an organizing effort by two social workers with single homeless men in Montreal. It is a follow-up document to Dossier Homme Seul Itinerant (Feb 1976 CISS) which stated the theoretical stance and goals of the organizing effort using Paulo Freire's approach. This document describes in detail the organizing and educational efforts from Sept. 1974 to December 1975. It includes description of an information post, two consecutive storefront centres, success and failure in user participation, meal cooperatives, a temporary work job bank effort and evaluation of each step in an action/reflection style. Also included is the article "Analysis of an everyday praxis" written by the same authors. It is one of the few efforts to document, in a step by step fashion, the development of an organization of men in the urban core.
