NEWS & LETTERS, April - May 2008Unity at Sutter HealthCaption: California Nurses Association (CNA) celebrated the end of their 10-day strike on March 30 against healthcare conglomerate Sutter Health. Of the 4,000 nurses, 95% stayed out. This was the third of a wave of strikes (see Strike for care in February-March and Workshop Talk in December 2007-January 2008 N&L) over patient care, especially non-enforcement of legally mandated nurse-patient ratio, as well as Sutter's attempt to take away healthcare and retirement options. |
