This summer marks the 40th anniversary of the launching of the "Cultural
Revolution" in China--one of the most momentous events in Chinese history. As a
contribution to ongoing discussions of the significance of the Cultural
Revolution, Raya Dunayevskaya's 1966 analysis sheds considerable light on Mao
Zedong's self-inflicted chaos and the revolutionary opposition inside China.
