Woman as Reason

NWSA shows revitalized women's movement

At the 25th Annual National Women’s Studies Association Conference in Milwaukee last month, an overwhelming disgust with President George W. Bush came through loud and clear. The conference as a whole reflected a revitalized women’s movement, recommitted to bridging the gap between academia and women’s freedom struggles worldwide.

Marx's Humanism Today

Raya Dunayevskaya's essay for the anthology SOCIALIST HUMANISM, edited by Erich Fromm, was first published in 1965. It contained studies on Marx’s Humanism by scholars and activists worldwide. We published parts of this essay in our May and June issues, and it concludes here. It is part of our ongoing discussions of Marx’s critique of capital in our "Draft for Perspectives 2004-2005—World Crises and the search for alternatives to capitalism."

Iraq abuse no surprise to U.S. prisoners

"We, as prisoners in the U.S. penal system, are more than familiar with the techniques that were used by soldiers in Iraq," explains someone with an inside view of the U.S. injustice system.

Our Life and Times

Serbs admit massacre

Bosnian Serb officials have made a public, written admission that their forces murdered thousands of Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica in July 1995. This admission undermines the pattern of obfuscation, conspiracy theories, and outright lies that has characterized Serbia’s defenders over the past decade, like Noam Chomsky and Ramsey Clark.
