Citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev

Protection Certificate

On the basis of a decision of the Council of People’s Commissars dated 25/III. 1919 this Protection Certificate is issued to Citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev, 78 years   of age, who for many years carried on scientific work and, as testified by Karl Marx, showed himself to be a “devoted friend of the people’s emancipation”.[2]

Citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev is given the right to visit the library of the Council of People’s Commissars, and all other state libraries are directed to give him every assistance in his scientific work and researches. All Soviet authorities are instructed to afford Citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev assistance in the matter of his own security and that of his family, home and property. In the event of his travelling through the Russian Socialist Soviet Republic all railway and steamship authorities are instructed to afford Citizen Vladimir Ivanovich Taneyev and his family every possible assistance in obtaining train tickets and berths.

[1] On May 25, 1919, after examining the question of material assistance for V. I. Taneyev, a Russian revolutionary democrat, public figure and scholar, the Council of People’s Commissars decided to assign him a monthly social security pension of 2,000 rubles, and authorised Lenin to sign a Protection Certificate.
