Purpose: The Canadian Marine Environment Protection Society (C-MEPS) is a volunteer-run, Canadian registered charitable society founded in 1993 and based in Vancouver, British Columbia. So many years later, most of the original founding members of C-MEPS remain active members of the board of directors.
C-MEPS was formed to help facilitate the discussion of ethical, scientific and environmental issues related to the plight of marine animals and their ocean habitat.
C-MEPS investigates, produces and widely distributes educational materials created for public consumption. These publications address issues such as environmental conditions, management practices, population status and humane treatment of marine animals in Canada.
C-MEPS believes that the public should be made aware of the importance of protecting the oceans remaining natural ecosystems for their biological and cultural importance, now and for the future..
