Study of transnational corporation investments and its effect on international union solidarity.

Abstract:
This paper studies the phenomena of transnational corporation investments and the strain that this causes international union solidarity. This is looked at through the structures of "runaway industries" which can transfer both technology and jobs on the basis of investment incentivies. Examples are given about how this creates competition among Third World countries, distorts local economic and social structures and leads to inflation, unemployment and underdevelopment. Discussed is how the globalization of transnational corporations effect labour's ability to strike and strategies on how unions can control these transnationals.
