This publication examines the issue of the use of farmland in Canada.
Abstract: This publication examines the issue of the use of farmland in Canada. It contends that Canada's prime farmland is in jeopardy, a victim of urban growth. Land to replace this loss is almost invariably in regions with poorer soil and a less favourable climate. People and Agricultural Land examines the how and why of urban growth, its effects upon the country side, and the part played by land dealers, regulators and developers. Finally, it explores ways to preserve farmland by drawing on a variety of expert opinions.
