Abstract:
Fear, isolation, lack of financial resources, transportation and child care are all factors that make living in the north very difficult for women. They also prevent women from becoming involved in development and planning.

The WOMEN AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE argues that planners could avoid the problems that economic development has traditionally created or perpetuated if they made use of women's knowledge of community and housing needs. The committee has published a brochure titled "Women in Decision-Making."
