International Day of Action: Vigil for Yemen

March 26, 2017

Since March 26, 2015, Saudi Arabia along with military, political and financial support from the US has carried out a brutal, devastating and ongoing bombing campaign against the people of Yemen. Their claims of wanting to bring peace and stability to the people of Yemen have only brought death and destruction to the already impoverished country. To date, the United Nations estimates the death toll at over 10,000 people and at least 3 million people have been internally displaced.
The people of Yemen are facing a dire humanitarian crisis, suffering from shortages of food, water, fuel and medicines because of bombing and the air, land and sea blockade imposed on them by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition. A new report released by the UN indicates that 17 million people are facing severe food insecurity and are on the verge of famine.
Join Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) and the Yemeni community in Vancouver for a vigil for Yemen as part of an international day of action against the bombing of Yemen. The day of action will also mark two years since the beginning of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition bombing campaign.
